Liquids and Tinctures: A tincture is an herbal extract made by steeping (soaking) an herb in a solvent such as alcohol, vinegar, or glycerin, and leaving it there for 4-6 weeks then straining out the herb. What is left is the solvent now with the properties of the herb in it. The extracted herb is discarded and the liquid is bottled. The herbal properties are literally "pulled out" of the herb and transfered into the solvent. Add the solvent to some water and drink it for the herbal properties.  At Boxwood Botanicals, we use non-denatured alcohol as the solvent.

Our cleaning sprays are the best combination of distilled (moon) water, scents, and cleaning agents. They are handmade and bottled. Our room sprays are a combination of distilled (moon) water, essential oils and alcohol to help the water and oil combine.What is moon water? Water that is set under the full moon each month. 

It's bug season and if you are spending time outside in the evening, you probably go for that bug spray. Well, our mosquito repellant is actually good for you. It's repellant properties are pure essential oils of lemon eucalyptus, lemongrass, and citronella. We add distilled water, a fixed oil (so it sticks to your skin) and a little non-denatured alcohol for emulsification. Mosquitos hate the smell of these oils and will leave you alone so you can enjoy your evening in peace!  4oz   $12

Bug Spray

Windows and glass need a different combination of cleaning agents since we do not want to scratch glass nor leave streaks. That is why our cleaning spray is made with no abrasive agents. It is simply distilled water, non-denatured alcohol (ethanol) and ammonia.; we add the peppermint essential oil so it smells good. This product works so well that is will transform your window and mirror washing to a new exciting level of fun! It's  non-toxic and soapless. You and your windows will shine! Use it just like any commercial window cleaner; just spray and wipe using a dry clean cloth.            16 oz $25

Window Cleaner

No more plug-in air fresheners that leave chemicals in your house. Use this simple room spray to clear odors and add aroma with wholesomeness.  Scented with pure essential oils. Made with locally sourced black walnut hulls; gathered, scrubbed, removed from the nut, chopped, then combined with alcohol for a 4-5 week dark steep process. It is then strained and bottled. Black walnut's naturally derived chemical, juglone, is associated with combating parasites and fungus, promoting improved health. It is also good for ringworm, tapeworm, pin or thread worms and other parasites and fungi in the gut. Oregano contains carvacrol and thymol; Carvacrol has antimicrobial activity against many variants of phytopathogenic bacteria and strains. Thymol is antiparasitic and antiseptic. Together these properties create a powerhouse for a great working body! These naturally derived chemicals are good for antimicrobial, antibacterial, and antioxidant, functions. Carvacrol and Thymol damage cell membranes of a wide range of bacteria including E. coli and salmonella. Magnolia bark contains properties that support sleep, reduce anxiety /depression, and promote memory and brain health. It was widely used for these functions before pharmaceutical intervention. Magnolia bark contains Honokiol, and Magnolol. These compounds interact directly with GABA A receptors which is a neurotransmitter that directly promotes a calming effect. Honokiol is effective as an analgesic and for treatment of anxiety and mood disorders. Preliminary current research shows therapeutic potential across the central nervous system. Magnolol has powerful anti-inflammatory effects as well as being a strong antioxidant and provides relief from stress and anxiety. We source this wonderful compound on our property from our own magnolia tree and make the tincture with organic, grain-free, non-denatured alcohol. Magnolia Bark Tincture

White Pine tincture is a pain relieving circulatory stimulant as well as  being anti inflammatory, and antimicrobial. It contains high levels of vitamin C and tastes great combined with seltzer water and a dash of lemon. Ours is made with our own white pine needles, bark, and buds sourced from pine trees on our property having an overall crisp pine taste.  It's natural chemicals are terpenes including pinene and bornyl acetate.  It is good for it's concentrated levels of vitiman C and antioxidant properties. It supports respiratory functions, nervous system balance, and is good for inflammation and pain . White pine is also associated with overall immunity. The story of the Five Thieves Oil is that robbers were raiding the homes of the sick and dead during the Black Plague but not getting sick. Once caught by the authorities, they received legal immunity in exchange for their secret of not getting sick. They revealed rubbing on themselves, the five herbs and spices found in Five Thieves Oil. We are not the first to make this gorgeous essential oil blend but we hand combine these five oils using a unique ratio that has promoted health and wellness in our home for many years. Uses include  diffusing, topical application, scenting applications in your home, adding to soap, conditioner or shampoo or simply opening the bottle and inhaling the goodness. Five Thieves Oil

 A flower essence is the dew that forms on a flower blossom. We gather the blossoms in the early morning while the dew is still on them and steam the essence collecting it then bottling it. The scent is very light but it is a pure flower essence with the benefit of the flower energy. It can be inhaled, rubbed onto your skin, or injested in drops on or under your tongue. It is a water so there is no risk with injesting this essence. We currently have magnolia and forsythia in 2 oz bottles. We will have lilac as soon as it blooms. $23
